Camping Tour North

A camping safari through the North of Portugal

During this scheduled, safari-style mobile-camping tour we are going to explore the North of Portugal. The North is the forgotten corner of Portugal. It is the birthplace of the first king and the richest area of the history of Portugal. It is peaceful and beautiful, welcoming and authentic.

While the itinerary covers the North of Portugal’s main tourist sites, we stay off the well-trodden routes and experience Portugal in a unique way. Our journey takes us to the Sintra-Cascais, the Serra da Estrela and Douro Natural parks. We visit the Prehistoric Rock Art sites in the Côa Valley and Siega Verde, the historic centre of Guimarães as well as the convent of Christ in Tomar. We also get the chance to admire the spectacular beauty of the Douro Wine region.

Day 1

Lisbon Airport – Cascais (Sintra-Cascais Natural Park)

Reception at the airport and transport to the Campsite Orbitur Guincho in Cascais located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, just a few miles from the mouth of the Tagus estuary. It offers very special surroundings given its location in the midst of pines and behind the dunes in Guincho.

Dinner at campsite.

Day 2

Cascais – Sintra – Tomar – Ferreira do Zêzere

Visit Sintra with its mystical hills dotted with fairytale palaces and extravagant villas. Tomar, the jewel in the crown of Central Portugal, a magical city bursting with handsome architecture and historical significance: the Templar Knights. We then arrive at Ferreira do Zêzere, bathed by the most beautiful and stunning artificial lake in Portugal, once the largest in Europe.

The valleys, rocky peaks, streams, and cascades make this an ideal hiking destination, with wild ponies, deer, cattle, and golden eagles for company.
